UNDERSTAND YOUR ESTIMATE
How this calculator works
Multiply the installed range for the selected window type by the number of windows. Use separate calculations for different window types. Installed prices already bundle the unit and labor; adding another installation allowance would double count them.
Major factors affecting the result
- Window type and count determine the modeled amount.
- Frame material and custom dimensions need a product-specific quote.
- Full-frame work may require repair to surrounding trim or damaged framing.
Put the numbers in context
Five double-hung windows: 5 × $350–$2,500 = $1,750–$12,500 installed. The range midpoint is $7,125.
What is not included
No independent allowance for disposal, hidden rot, lead-safe work, permits or complexity. Frame and installation options are saved as scope notes, not price multipliers.
When to get a professional quote
Use the result to organize your questions and compare the same scope across written quotes. Confirm inclusions, exclusions and site conditions with the person doing the work. For structural, electrical, HVAC or tree-hazard decisions, consult a qualified professional.
Frequently asked questions
Is this a contractor quote?
No. It is a national planning range. Ask an installer for a written price based on measured openings and selected products.
Why does changing the frame not change the total?
The source does not provide a verified type-by-frame pricing matrix. We keep frame selection in the scope summary instead of inventing an adjustment.
Data sources & methodology
Last reviewed: September 2026.
Low and high use the linked published ranges. Typical is the arithmetic midpoint only when both bounds are closed. If a source prints an upper value with “+”, Typical is not calculated. No regional, material-quality or difficulty multiplier is applied. Source ranges may describe different scopes and should not be treated as guarantees.
